In a 'neighborhood of business offices', this Novato 'gem'
stands out with 'authentic, hearty' Thai cooking that will
'satisfy and comfort'; the earth toned space can be 'tight',
especially during its 'popular lunch', but service is 'quick'
and tabs budget-friendly, so most agree it's a 'great find'.
Nestled in an area void of Thai treats, Arun's is a fresh little
find in meandering Marin. This neighborhood dwelling is
beloved by businessmen, software suits, and local families
alike who can't help but smile at the sight of such large portions
of boldly flavored, well-prepared Thai Food.
It may reside in a commercial park, but Arun's handsome floors
and furnishings, vibrant accents, Thai relics, and friendly
staff ooze oodles of warmth, strutting a variety of dishes, the
menu might also unveil tasty Thai finds like Larb Gai, that
tasty plate of ground chicken spiked with fish sauce, lime juice,
and chilies; and pumpkin curry lush with prawns, potatoes,
and coconut milk. The ginger ice cream is spicy, but a perfect

Other than a handful of beloved taquerias, Novato's
inexpensive restaurants seldom get much praise. That's
why Arun Thai has been so welcomed into the community.
Though on the higher end of a Bargain Bite--chicken and

cost more--it's definitely a place you'd order family-style,
and servings are large.

For folks who work at Hamilton or in one of the many
nearby business complexes, I'm sure Arun Thai is a
welcome addition. The new restaurant moved into the
space that Happy Garden occupied for 18 years; according
to the new owner, the spruced-up froom bears zero
resemblance to the prior occupant.
How about these snappy duos: Fred Astaire and angel
hair curry? Frank Sinatra and satay?
Tony Bennett and Tom Kha Gain?
You'll find all of these and more at Arun Thai, a
charming, quietly elegant restaurant that opened three
months ago on Bel Marin Keys in Novato.
At the bottom of Arun Thai's menu is written this
exciting tale: A Thai king, under siege from his
enemies near the Chao Phraya River, prays to
Buddha to watch over him through the night. As
his foes close in, the king's demise seems imminent.
But in the clutch--the king lives to see daybreak and
escape from his insurgents.
